I have a new show coming up called – IMPRESSIONS II - at Galerie Old Chelsea (May 30 to June 18). This will be my second exhibition of my work at Galerie Old Chelsea following a successful show at their new location last year.
Galerie Old Chelsea is, to my knowledge, the longest running artist co-op gallery in this area. Ten or more artists share expenses and volunteer their time at the gallery to exhibit and sell their work plus the work of invited guests. Artist co-op owned galleries are not new to our area – I belonged to one in Stittsville years ago. Galerie Old Chelsea has been operating continually for 25 years! In 2013 a decision was taken, by its present owners, to move from its landmark location on Scott Street in Old Chelsea to new, modern facilities, upstairs at Restaurant Les Fougères on Route 105, a few minutes’ drive from its former location. Visitors to the gallery park in space provided in the Les Fougères’ parking lot and enter by a separate entrance on the left. A stairway opens on to a bright, newly renovated gallery featuring floor to ceiling windows looking out over the beautiful gardens and pathways maintained by the restaurant. New track lighting provides an excellent ambiance for the numerous paintings, sculptures and hand-crafted jewelry. Visitors often take advantage of the superb menu offered by Les Fougères while there. Last year’s show ran effortlessly thanks to the enthusiasm shown by the gallery owners, many of whom helped personally with the show set up and were there to welcome the public. My wife, Patricia, and I look forward to showing my new work and seeing friends old and new in this lovely new gallery setting. Impressions II, May 30 to June 18, 2014 Vernissage - Sunday June 8, 1 – 4pm Galerie Old Chelsea 783 Route 105, QC 819 827 4945
